In Jonah Gebka’s paintings, interior and exterior, reality and projection overlap. A painted view from one of the windows of Galerie Brot&Kunst is juxtaposed with a stage-like architectural setting. Window frames and screen edges play a structuring role, emphasizing the mediated nature of seeing.
With Strommasten 1, Claudia Holzinger presents a new project created during her residency in the artists’ town of Gmünd in Carinthia. The electricity pylons stand for connection and networking, but also for separation and fragmentation. For Holzinger, they illustrate how individual responsibility and collective action are interconnected.
Together with Laura Michèle Kniesel and Laura Osbild, Jonah Gebka and Claudia Holzinger form the organizing team behind the Garagen Biennale Buchbach, an exhibition trail presenting contemporary art in private garages in Buchbach. The Garagen Biennale opens on Saturday, 19 September at 2 pm behind Dorfener Strasse 1. It will also be open on Sunday, 20 September, and the following weekend, 26–27 September 2026, from 11 am to 6 pm.

About FOTOHOF Calling
The FOTOHOF>CALLING magazine is published as part of the Europe-wide open call, which takes place every two years: Working with memories is an important recurring theme throughout this year’s issue. The artists bring historical or personal archives that serve as the basis for their research into a contemporary setting. Through photographic staging and retelling, the artists not only look back but also demonstrate how past events and memories continue to shape the present. The fragmentary and implicit nature of these visual narratives becomes an important stylistic device, with political events and social concerns often reflected through the subjectivity of the artistic gaze. […] At the same time, the magazine not only features works based on archival and subjective forms of artistic exploration but also highlights staged, composite, and satirical approaches to image-making that align with the traditions of photocollage or comics.

NEW PHOTOBOOK BY COLLECTIVE FEMXPHOTOGRAPHERS.ORG
This black-and-white volume brings together international artists who use the lens as a site of tenderness, power, loss, desire, and care. From staged intimacy to spontaneous encounters, from resistance to romanticism, these works show that love is not one image, but many. The third publication by femxphotographers.org, this book continues their feminist and collective approach to photographic discourse and the disruption of the male gaze. Including poetry and text, it expands the field of visual storytelling to embrace the personal and political, the utopian and the everyday.femxphotographers.org is an international collective of womxn and non-binary photographers. Through exhibitions and books, they challenge dominant narratives in photography and advocate for solidarity, visibility, and feminist discourse.

MAGAZINE
I had the great opportunity to create the visuals for the new issue of the magazine of Bayerische Akademie der Wissenschaften about the present and future of the Bavarian school system.
School is hard, at least it was for me - full of pressure, norms and coolness, insecurities and fear which led to the thing, that I was happy to leave it and never wanted to go back. Thanks to my dear friend Fabian Aigner, who is now arts and sports teacher at Gymnasium Dorfen, the school we graduated from together in 2006, I could shoot the pictures in my old school building. Reconciling is a process - but that grown up Claudia posing in morphsuits, biting in rulers and dressing in her old exercise books helped a lot.
Thank you to Studio Umlaut, which is Friederike Giirst and Christine Rampl, for giving me this opportunity. Thank you to Bayerische Akademie der Wissenschaften for your trust and kindness.
Thank you to Fabian Aigner for helping me take the pictures and giving me the opportunity to render my school sports memories by teaching me the laylap in basketball.
